You’ve Seen the Difference and It’s Getting Better All the Time

I have this memory of Mark Shaw wherein he brought a new girlfriend to a basketball game and Michelle Thomas and I were sitting with them at the top of the bleachers. He and the girlfriend were holding hands, their fingers laced together and resting on his knee. I don’t remember her name; I think she went to Northshore. I don’t even remember how long they lasted, but I recall a vague feeling of pride and possessiveness whenever Mark had a girlfriend. Even when I got petulant over his spending more time with the girlfriend than with his trusty girl friends, I was always pulling for Mark to find a worthy recipient of the Shaw charm.

I got to meet Tonya, Mark’s wife, only briefly at the reunion. I wish I would have had a chat with her. My instant impression was that she was even more charming than Mark! And I suspect he hooked her without any telephone scripts written by Michelle, although I haven’t confirmed that.
